Admissions Information

Surrey County Council is the admission authority for Oakwood School.  To find up to date information about the school’s admission arrangements and details on how to apply, either as part of the normal intake in September or during the school year as an In Year Application.

Once a place has been allocated by Surrey Admissions, parents are required to attend a meeting at the school and complete an the admission forms along with providing supporting documents prior to the student starting at the school.   If your child is applying as an In Year Application, they will be required to sit some basic English and Maths papers prior to starting, to establish teaching sets.

And that was that. The end of term is here and school is finished for the Summer. It has been a year of highs, including work on the Astro pitch finally getting underway, and lows, including work on the Astro pitch grinding to a halt because of such awful weather. Thankfully it has now restarted and by the time the start of term rolls around it should be finished! Of course, there has been lots of other stuff going on, but that’s school life for you. Mr Gladstone’s first year as Headteacher ended with “the best sports day in 17 years”. Relax, enjoy the break and we’ll be back briefly on GCSE results day. On Thursday 13th June Mrs Ebert and Miss Jackson took the Horrible Historians to watch the show Rotten Rulers at @thehawthcrawley. The students were brilliantly behaved and thoroughly enjoyed the tales of awful kings and queens. There was much laughter (especially at the Gong Farmers) and the audience participation from Oakwood was off-the-scale! Anjali and Alfie ended up on stage being identified as 17th century witches and reading a tongue twister with the microphone and everyone joined in the song at the end. Horrible Histories club is every Friday lunchtime in G16.

On Sunday 9th June two of our Year 9 students attended the memorial ceremony for DDay, accompanied by Mr Tunstill. Both boys represented the school admirably wearing school uniform and reading to a large crowd of adults outside. The poems selected were ‘Normandy’ and ‘Ranville’ both by Juno veteran Cyril Crain. In school we have reflected on the 80th anniversary events by having activities in tutor time, listening to veterans speaking and reflecting on the events.
