Our Partner Colleges and Employers

Oakwood School have two partner colleges — Reigate College, an academic sixth‑form college, and East Surrey College, a vocational college that also offers a wide range of apprenticeships for students progressing after Year 11. Across the five years at Oakwood, your child will take part in assemblies, college taster days, application events, and open evenings with these two colleges, alongside other local providers, ensuring they build confidence, understand their options, and feel fully prepared for their next steps when they leave in Year 11.

The Futures Department at Oakwood School is committed to providing high-quality, impartial careers education, information, advice and guidance to support all students in planning their future pathways.

Led by Mr Sims, the Careers Lead, the department works strategically to ensure careers education is embedded across the school and aligns with national guidance and local opportunities.

Miss Longley, the Careers Adviser, works closely with students to offer personalised support, including one-to-one guidance, helping them explore post-16 and post-18 options, understand labour market information, and make informed decisions about their next steps. Together, the Futures Department supports students in developing the confidence, knowledge and skills needed to succeed beyond Oakwood.

Provider Access Legislation:

The updated provider access legislation (PAL) has now been enacted. It specifies that schools must provide at least four encounters with approved providers of apprenticeships and technical education for all their students:

  • Two encounters for pupils during the ‘first key phase’ (year 8 or 9) that are mandatory for all pupils to attend
  • Two encounters for pupils during the ‘second key phase’ (year 10 or 11) that are mandatory for all pupils to attend

You will also find details below of parental advice, colleges and labour market information. If you have any questions or suggestions on how we can improve our service, please email: futures@oakwood.surrey.sch.uk  or via the school's main number: 01293 785363
